Celebrating women in care – Happy International Women’s Day!

Today is International Women’s Day! A day to celebrate all of the incredible women in our lives.

We’d like to take this opportunity to recognise and appreciate the women in the health and social care industry. We know there are so many of them – especially here at our care home in Ixworth.

The health and social care sector has incredible women across many professions, including nurses, care workers and midwives. And every single woman plays a vital role in keeping our communities healthy and happy.

According to research carried out by The King’s Fund, women hold 85-95% of health and social care jobs involving providing direct care and support. This is a huge majority, which is why we felt it particularly important  to celebrate our incredible women today.

At The Beeches we have an amazing team, and their immense hard work, empathy and compassion make a huge difference to our residents’ lives, always.

Living through a pandemic which still haunts us today, has demonstrated the importance of health and social care workers, as they have helped to keep the country, and indeed the world, ticking over during extremely trying times. These super women have worked tirelessly then and still do to care for those who need it, and this is especially true of all the women on our team here at The Beeches Care Home.

Our female colleagues are well trained and professional but also patient, caring, selfless, and passionate. They are a pleasure to have around our home and we are so grateful for them.

Women working in the care industry add huge value to the industry and our community. We truly believe they deserve recognition and support from us all.

This International Women’s Day, thank the care workers in your life and show them how valued and appreciated they are. If you want to do more, you can also donate to organisations that support care workers such as The Care Workers’ Charity (https://www.thecareworkerscharity.org.uk/).

Happy International Women’s Day to all the wonderful women reading this!
