Through the seasons at The Beeches: A 2023 recap

Happy New Year! 2023 was a year filled with laughter, love and unforgettable memories here at The Beeches. As we settle into the new year, we’re taking this opportunity to take a look back at the last 12 months  and relive all the heartwarming moments at our home.

Spring

Easter cheer:

We welcomed the season with beautiful handmade decorations adorning every corner of our home. Our Easter raffle was a great success, raising a fantastic £120 for our resident fund.

Mother’s Day blooms:

Mother’s Day was a memorable one last year as families showered all the lovely mums at The Beeches with flowers and gifts – that made them so happy!

Darts for a cause:

Team Beeches participated in a 12-hour darts marathon which raised over £1200! We used the funds to transform our garden with new furniture, just in time for the summer. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported us!

Summer

Showered with love:

We threw baby showers for Katelyn and Lily, two of our beloved staff members and mums-to-be. There were balloons, buntings, lots of cake and a mountain of gifts. All our residents gathered to give them their love and best wishes.

Garden party extravaganza:

We threw a garden party for our residents and families last summer. There was music, drinks, lively conversation, and our chefs whipped up sweet treats for everyone – what a fun day!

Basking in the sun:

Long sunny afternoons were spent outside in our lovely garden as we sat around chatting and petting our resident pygmy goats. It was definitely a summer to remember!

Autumn

A fond farewell:

We bid farewell to our beloved cook Ruth who retired after working with us for 27 years, making countless delicious meals and putting  smiles on our faces. Happy retirement Ruth, we will miss you!

Five generations of love:

Our resident Betty’s family surprised her with a visit from her great-grandson and the rest of her family,  posing  for a heartwarming five generations photo which was featured in the East Anglian Daily Times!

Remembrance:

Our residents had an arts and crafts session to make poppies and wreaths as a tribute to the service and sacrifice of our brave soldiers.

Spooktacular fun:

Spooky spirits and mischievous witches took over The Beeches on Halloween. We had a fun party with frightfully fun games, drinks and music which was enjoyed by all.

Winter

Knitting for a cause:

As it got colder outside, we spent more time indoors, knitting forget-me-knots to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s – a cause close to our hearts.

Holiday cheer:

We got together to decorate our home with festive decorations, just in time for Christmas. We spent cosy evenings playing puzzles, sharing stories, and enjoying holiday treats throughout the month and welcomed the new year with positivity and good vibes.

2023 was a memorable year for us at The Beeches –  we sang, danced, laughed, and most importantly, lived our lives to the fullest!

Thank you for all your love and support last year and we hope it continues. As the new year unfolds before us, we’re looking forward to a year of adventures, new memories, and celebrating our lovely community. Here’s to 2024!
